My Illustrated Packing LIst

August 8 Ok, I'm all set for our next adventure. We leave our mountain nest today. Two weeks in Vancouver, then we're off to New York to board the Queen Mary 2 for a lap around the British Isles with a side zip over to Bruges.

I love creating these iIllustrated packing lists for my trips. For one thing, I can really see what goes with what and make sure I've got accessories and shoes for everything without taking things I won't use.

Here's how I do it: I think of the general activities I'll be doing; in this case it's teaching art and exploring the ship onboard, exercising, sunbathing and playing pickleball, doing day trips on shore, and a whole bunch of dinner party moments, both fancy and not so fancy. I make a category for each and just make sure everything works with everything else. If I'm picking more stuff for any one category than will fit in an illustration I have too much stuff. Time to edit. I could be a lot more restricted, but we're on a ship. We load in and then don't have to move anything until we're done. I let myself have the outfits.

I was watching Emily in Paris while packing this time, so this lot leans a little girly, but I like that. I love that Chanel quote "Every day is a fashion show and the world is your runway". Why not. Life is short.

After this it's just tech toys, toiletries and art supplies. Ready to roll.

Thanks so much for following along. Don't forget to subscribe for updates, and if you haven't yet seen my new book from my last adventure check it out here.
