Boots Off at the Door, Cowboys!

Spending the night at my brother’s little ranch in Willowbrook. Down south we’d call this a ranchito. But there’s room for a couple of horses, chickens, 3 dogs and a kick-ass garden. I’m fed a great steak cooked in a cast iron pan over an open fire. There’s a gorgeous log home, plus a wee log cabin calving off the side of it for visitors like me.

This place holds a special magic, mostly because of my brother and his parter. They’re living their dream here and that’s always a beautiful thing. They were city folk, but she’s up at dawn doing farm chores and loving on her garden, and he’s had a roping riding cowboy side to him his whole life, even while living in Vancouver. It’s fun to see them embracing this life here. And so sweet to be able to visit and try on cowboy life for a day or two myself.

Thanks so much for reading, and don’t forget to sign up for updates to follow along on the adventure!
